Overview
A development of 164 homes comprising a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom Apartments and 3 and 4 bedroom family homes including exceptional four storey flagship properties with underground parking. The development is located within a popular residential area within walking distance of the town centre and over-looking the water meadows and open space.
The site at Laundry Lane was a contaminated light industrial development. Land Charter Homes plc owned the site for some six years during which time a public consultation was conducted in August 2004 to invite local resident’s comments on the proposed plan. This plan was then approved within the local Master Plan and in 2007 obtained a full planning permission.
Development Feature
The Development was launched at Easter 2008 with phase one of 80 plots and one office build complete Phase 2 affordable housing, comprising of 25 houses and flats is also complete and handed over. There remain 57 Market units on phase 3 for which development funding is currently being sought. Abbotts Gate won the Highly Commended 2011 Awards for Large Development of the Year.
And was winner of the 2011 Local Authority Building Controll awards for East Anglia in the Large Development of the Year Category.
